In social-slinky mode moving with a group of college friends from dinner to the next bar. The UHB have once again left me cold.
Google Flu Trends: Creamy versus Extra Chunky →
I was just visiting the Google Flu Trends page since the first time since November, and I was happy to find a new addition: a map of the US that allows you to see intensity across the states. A side beneift is that you can flip through the state-by-state graphs really quickly. I noticed that the larger the population, the smoother the graph lines. New York and California: silky trends. Hawaii...
RT @nytimes An Unflattering Portrait of Former Colombian Hostage http://tinyurl.com/djushh There was a whiff of this when she was captured.
Ever the pretty girls on the billboards seem to be cold today. Too bad for them they can’t go home and put on sweaters over their bikinis.
I am still charmed by the director of La Maison en Petit Cubes thanking his pencil. That and the domo arigato, Mr. Roboto zinger.
Watched far too much 30 Rock today, but I am more certain than ever that I want Liz Lemon and Jack Donaghy to adopt me. For a week or so.
To quote the eTrade baby, “I want to punch the economy in the face!”

The ready-for-publication photo of the A+A side by side with the Loria Center that illustrates this article is the best view I have yet seen of the new companions. Unfortunately, this wide-angle, perspectivally-corrected shot can only be taken from behind the shaded galleries of Kahn’s museum across the street. Not only is this not how you perceive the building on a daily basis, it is not...
The new KenKen puzzle in the #NYT is pretty cheesy. It makes me feel like I’m reading a cheap-o small-town paper rather than the Grey Lady.
Unexpected day trip to New Haven. Feeling like an architectural first-responder. Unfortunately, I don’t rate flashing lights and sirens.
Left to my own devices, I could probably read my way through a lot of the Internet each weekend. It’s probably best that I can’t.
Waiting for the curtain on a 39 step Valentine. The back of the stage could be real brickwork or a carefully reconstrcted fake. Like Venice.
Intermittant network failure turns a regular day at the office into Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.
I visited the wooden escalators at Macy’s today. They’ve got a great rumble to them.
Full bags of Doritos blowing down 34th Street like tumbleweed. Indian kiosk owner chasing them like a cat hearder.
Fascinating inflatable sleeping pods for the homeless.

The Case Against Cable Financial News →
I bit that passes on to an unbelievable bit on CNBC where Nouriel Roubini and Nassim Taleb are interviewed by a ground of kindergartners, ahem, TV financial reporters.
To answer the question of the jerk in the wannabe architect glasses (trust me, I should know) about what “two or three metrics” I would look at to show that we have started to see the light at the end of the tunnel on...

It is no accident that the person who tagged me with this first was someone who I both know too well and not at all.
Still day dreaming about Calder’s wire faces. They are so thin and so voluminous at the same time. I remember trying to make one.
Saw Calder: the Paris Years at the Whitney. The wire busts are stunning. The shot-putter is fabulous. Strange 2-D/3-D harmonies enchant.
Apple Store visit. Maybe they can give my Powerbook a T key that actually works. Life without it isn’t very ineresing.
RT @nytimes: Bitten: The Brussels Sprouts Taste-Off http://tinyurl.com/bdf8u7 Another victory for Les Sprooots!
Repair successful! Fantastic satisfaction to be back on all characters.
Cab rides in this kind of slip-sloppy weather are always a little dicey. Every stoplight is met with a 5-foot skid. Seatbelts!
Super Bowl Monday - obligatory water-cooler conversation with the office drones makes me sicker than spoiled guacamole and skunked beer.
It is clear that New Yorkers are not rivited by a Cardinals-Steelers Super Bowl played in Florida. What a change from last year.
